I am so excited.
I might not be showing it, but I am. Today is my girlfriend's birthday, and, well, I wanna surprise her. I clutched the small box in my hand and left my apartment. Apparently, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and I bumped into a girl.
"Ow! Watch where your going next time?" she yelled, angrily.
"I'm sorry, deeply sorry." I said, picking up the box. I saw that she dropped something. Sadly, it was a cigarette. She looked up, and smiled.
"Mason? Is it really you?" She asked. I stared, confused. "I'm sorry, do I know you?" I asked. She saddened, i could tell by the why her face drooped.
"You don't remember me?"
"No. I don't."
"I'm Veronica. Veronica Washington? We went to the same academy together, remember?"
Suddenly, the memories came rushing through my brain.
The Wizard Ball.
"Hey, Mason! Call me old fashioned bit you look H.O.T!" Kimberley said. Kimberley was the It-Girl of Merlin's Academy. God, how I hated her. She thought the whole academy had to bow down to her. Yeah, the chances of her actually being a "queen" are 0. I'm serious.
"Thanks." I said. I grabbed my wand, and warmed up for the Wizard Show, where we held a show contained of all the advanced spells. To be honest, the only reason I applied to be part of the Wizard Show was to be close to Veronica Washington. The girl everyone bullied. I was that popular guy every girl was kissing up to so they can get with. Veronica wasn't like that. She was a friend.
"Hey! Loser Veronica actually showed up!" Kim said. Everyone gathered behind Kim.
"Yeah, I did. But, I had to, so what?" she asked.
"Oh, I don't know. Wait, were you even invited?"
"You didn't need to be invited, are you retarded or something?" She asked. I was shocked. She has never said that.
"Excuse me? Oh, you take that back!" Kim yelled. Veronica denied. And, Kim took a piece of cake and threw it at her. Everyone else joined in after the 3rd slice was thrown. She ran out, I can tell she was upset. I grew frustrated, and left with these words:
"What is wrong with you?"
I followed the trail of frosting which landed to Veronica's locker. She was grabbing her pig puppet, and she turned around. I startled her. I could tell.
"Hi." she said, trying to act as happy as possible. She failed, and cried on my shoulder.
"Vero, don't cry." I said.
"I can cry if I want to." she said, sniffling. I took her head off my shoulder and told her,
"Don't let those bullies take over your life. You're the one who really deserves being popular. Look at you, you might be covered in frosting but you're beautiful. You've always been."
She smiled, "Really? You think?"
"Think? I know" We stared at each other for about 5 seconds, until, well, I couldn't resist, I kissed her. It was magical. It was like I was being levitated and hearts were circling around us.
End of Flashback:
"Of course I remember you, Vero." I said, smiling.
She squealed, and hugged me. "I missed you, Mason." She said. She let go, and asked me, "What's the box for?"
"Oh, its for my girlfriend, its her birthday today." I said, staring at the box, smiling. "Oh, girlfriend, you say?" She stopped, "Wow, um, okay."
"Yeah, I don't want to keep hrwwiting. Bye, Vero!"
She waved. And I started walking away.
